Project Payday - Free Membership

Free Project Payday Membership

I have talked about Project Payday in the past and have encouraged my readers to avoid paying for the eBook as you could get a lot of the info by just going to the forums I listed instead. Now you don't have to parse all the info as Project Payday can now be had without buying the book.

The folks at Project Payday are now offering the whole package - Training Guide, Videos, Mentoring, Free Offers and other resources in exchange for you filling out a free offer on their site.

You only have to fill out 1 offer and while most of the offers will cost a buck or two, you will be rebated the cost by Project Payday.

If you don't want to wait for the rebate you can fill out one offer that is completely free and get your Project Payday membership instantly. The offer is for Work at Home Manifesto and you will still get a rebate of 2 dollars for filling out the form. Essentially this form is nothing more than adding your name and email to the Work at Home Manifesto mailing list.

The program has been updated since I first bought the program and is now a very comprehensive guide for anyone interested in making money with IFW's or freebie sites.

For those of you who are not familiar with this method of making money online you can read about it on several of my previous posts. I will say this though - this is one of the few legitimate ways of making money online and the system has skyrocketed over the past year. It is easy to do - costs you nothing - and it works. How many programs have you found that can say that. Moreover a complete internet novice can make money with it just as easily as a seasoned vet.

Now that you can get Project Payday for free I highly recommend that you give it a shot. You won't get rich with this but everyone can make a decent income with it. $100 -$200 a day is the norm.

Note: This still only works for Americans and in a limited fashion for Canadians. Sorry but the system is funded largely by American corporations and they are only interested in the North American market at present. If anyone knows of a similar program in other parts of the world please let me know and I will check it out.

Beware Of Affiliate Programs Designed To Cheat You!

There are few things more annoying than those moments when you've put in a considerable amount of effort, sweat, mental anguish and pain in promoting an affiliate program product just to get cheated out of your hard-earned commission by of all things the affiliate program itself! Sure who doesn't know that there are and will always be wily marketers ready to pounce on your affiliate Id and swap it with theirs if you haven't disguised or cloaked it (and no this is not an article promoting affiliate cloaking software...all the ones I have ever bought never ever worked! If you truly want to mask your links for free go to tinyurl.com) But back to the problem on hand...getting conned by the affiliate program itself? OUCH! Now that's a low blow indeed!

So let's break it down and see how this can happen. Let me add here that just occasionally by the way, such scenarios are the results of a mistake, but more often than not it is done intentionally. The real kicker though is that those websites offering affiliate programs designed to enrich the merchant yet leave you, the affiliate, out in the cold are legally well within their rights; i.e., you can't go blabbing to the web police crying foul play and expect any retribution or justice so the onus is on you to sniff out those sneaky merchants.

Case Of The 7-Day Affiliate Cookie Versus The 15-Day Free Trial!

Huh? A 7-Day cookie yet the merchant is offering a 15-day free trial! Can you see what's wrong with this picture? But just in case you don't, let me clarify things by explaining what cookies are. Simply put, a cookie is a harmless piece of computer code or script that captures harmless information (such as identifying a computer through current and subsequent visits, websites visited and date of visit). This is of importance to you because this is how a merchant can tell that a particular customer who purchased from them was referred by you, thus ensuring you get your commission. The importance of cookies does not stop there.

There're cookies and there are cookies! Cookies are coded to expire after a set period of time. So if a merchant supplies you (the affiliate) with cookies programmed to expire after 120 days, this means that if one of your referrals makes a purchase anytime within those 120 days, you'll get credited for that sale and get paid your commission. Remember, it generally takes at least several instances of exposure to a product before a person is ready to buy! So the longer lasting the cookie, the better...at least from your point of view as an affiliate.

Right, so let's take a closer look at the merchant website that offered a 7-day cookie for its affiliate program yet at the same time offers its visitors a 15-day free trial period of the product. I'm sure you've caught on to the scam now...there's no way that you are going to get any commission because by the time the prospective buyer (who originated from your website through your affiliate link) is ready to purchase once their 15-day free trial is up, the cookie encoded with your affiliate link would have already expired!

So what can you do in such a case? If you really like the product and feel quite strongly about promoting it, you could contact the merchant and inform them that you'd love to promote their product but you happened to notice that they also offered a co-existent 15-day free trial period. Politely point out to them that that 15-day free trial effectively nullifies any possibility of you being able to generate any commissions with a 7-day affiliate-link cookie in place. Then graciously ask if they could extend the cookie duration to a 30-day period which should at least make it possible for you to actually get awarded your rightful commissions.

Nine times out of ten the reply (if you get any at all) is going to be NO unless you are a heavy hitter with an impressive volume of traffic or an extensive subscriber list...and if you also have evidence to backup your claims of heavy-hitter stardom . If, however, you still get a negative response or no response at all then don't waste any more time and simply move on and forget all about promoting that program, unless you are a natural born altruist (a selfless person dedicated to help others at no personal gain).

The Multi-Pay Option Game

This is another sneaky way in which you can be duped out of your rightful commissions, although this is not as deadly effective as the free-trial-period scam. Okay let's consider a scenario in which you're promoting an affiliate product listed at Click Bank (probably the largest online directory listing of digital marketing products available for affiliate promotion). A scenario such as this would have you send visitors from your site to the merchant's website via a link encoded with your Click Bank affiliate Id (the click bank Id is part of the cookie encoded with your affiliate information enabling them to distinguish that it was indeed you who referred the purchaser.)

In an ideal situation, the prospect who you referred would then purchase the product and hey you just got commission! But what if the sneaky merchant gives that prospective buyer another payment option on their landing page, such as payment through PayPal? Your referral might decide hmmmm, lemme use the funds in my PayPal account instead...and just like that your commission is gone! As I pointed out earlier, this method does not cheat you out of your commissions as effectively as the free-trial one above, because in this case you have a 50/50 chance of getting your commission but in the other case you basically have none!

How To FIx Your Slow Running Computer !!!!!

Step 1 To Fix A Slow Computer:

All Windows Operating Systems come with inbuilt system tools that will improve the performance and speed of your slow computer. Follow the instructions in the image below to access those tools:

Fix Slow Computer

If you look carefully at the image above in the last window open just above the arrow that points to “Disk Defragmenter” you will notice a tool the says “Disk Cleaner”. It is advisable to run this tool before defragmenting your disk. From experience I have found that defragmenting really improves the performance of a slow computer and quite often when an application refuses to function or perform it will do so after defragmenting!

Okay the following string of images show a heavily defragmented disk before defragging (defragging is an abbreviation for defragmentation) and after defragmentation.

Image Of Heavily Defragmented Disk

Defragmenting

The red portions of the disk depict defragmented files which explained why my computer was so slow at the time.

Okay, perhaps you don’t know what fragementation and fragmented files are so here is a brief explanation:

Whenever you use your computer, file pieces or file fragments are formed which eventually become dislodged and misplaced from one another. This process of fragmentation occurs because of the continuous and ongoing activity of the addition and the deletion of files on your hard drive whenever your computer is performing a task. Fragmentation ultimately reduces computer performance because processing resources must be allocated to what in effect becomes a seek-n-find operation.

Basically when a file is fragmented the computer must search the entire hard disk any time that file is opened in order to piece together all the various fragments of that file to make it complete. As you can imagine this is a time consuming and labor intensive process that makes a computer slow and forces it to run and perform in a sluggish manner.

Defragmentation

Defragmentation is the process whereby the various different parts of a file are arranged in a contiguous fashion so that the file fragments connect to one another in sequential order until the file is a complete unit once more. Arranging files in this manner speeds up an otherwise slow computer because now that the file fragments are arranged to form a whole the computer can access and retrieve that file so much faster from its hard drive or whichever disk has just been defragmented.

Step 2 To Fix A Slow Computer:

Unfortunately The Windows Defragmenting Tool Is Not Very Effective

Much as the above listed measures will certainly speed up your slow computer they are severly limited and here’s why:
The Windows inbuilt defragmenting tool cannot defragment the Windows Paging File. The Windows Paging File is a hidden file on your computer called the Pagefile.sys which together with the physical amount of RAM installed on your system makes up the Virtual Memory:

Paging file + Physical RAM = Virtual Memory

The paging file is really a relic of the past and its purpose was to boost the amount of actual physical RAM available on any given computer system. The reason why the paging file existed was because not too very long ago computers were equipped with a measly 64–128 megabytes (MB) of RAM, and as software applications became more advanced and at the same time more resource hungry, an alternative means was needed to accommodate the necessary amounts of RAM the new and more powerful software required , until such time that the hardware manufactures caught up and produced RAM modules of greater capacity.

Welll even though the paging file is no longer vital in a world where computers can accomodate in excess of 16gigs of RAM and typically come equipped with at least 2-4 gigs of RAM, that old dinosaur that is the Paging File still plays a vital role in the speed and performance of your computer and is in fact one of the biggest culprits responsible for a slow running computer. Here’s why:

By Default The Paging File Cannot Be Defragmented!

The Paging File despite its designation of “virtual memory” is nothing more than reserved hard drive space to which data is written to and retrieved periodically. By default the paging file is stored on the boot partition of windows which means that the paging file is housed in that portion of Windows that contains the operating system and its respective support folders. Here is the big problem with this scenario:

When the Paging File and Operating System are located on the same drive partition simultaneous access to both systems is impossible and access to the one must by necessity await completion of access to the other. This process naturally makes for a very slow computer. But here’s the good news. Although you cannot defragment the Paging File using the tools that come with Windows you can do so using other applications specially designed for such a purpose.

Check out the images below to see what I mean:

Boot Defragmentation

Applying the methods and measures outlined above will make your slow computer go faster.

Well that finalizes this article on how to fix a slow computer. I hope that after you have taken the measures shown above your computer should be rip-roaring fast!

Backlinks: What they are and how to get them

Sometimes called inbound links, backlinks are the lifeblood of Search Engine Positioning. In order for a website to be on the top of search engines like Google without the webmaster having to pay big money for advertising, the website has to have a large number of backlinks. Backlinks are links on one website that lead back to another website. The more established, high quality, and high Page Rank the website that contains the link has, the more power it has to help the linked website with its search engine position. If the website that is getting backlinks gets many High Quality and High Page Rank backlinks, the better the chance it has of being in a high position on the Search Engines.

How does a webmaster go about getting high quality backlinks to his or her website? There are many ways this can be done. Some people advocate writing and submitting articles, posting on forums, making comments on blogs. Others talk about submitting their website to various Internet directories. One directory that has an excellent reputation is called DMOZ, or the “Open Directory. This directory is probably the most respected directory online today. The websites it contains have all been placed there by human editors; there is no “automation to this directory. The only drawback that's been discussed about this directory is that it takes so long to have a website included.

Another way that many people build backlinks for their website is to use Social Bookmarking websites. A “Social Bookmark is a website that usually has a very popular 'community' aspect to it. Users sign up and create profiles on the sites that contain photos and information about themselves. They then can save “bookmarks of favorite websites which can be itemized by 'tags', which are one or two word descriptions of what the sites contain, and these bookmarks can be saved to a list that's private or can be listed publicly, so that everybody can see it.

With the advent of what is known as Web 2.0, gaining backlinks is easier now than in any time in the history of the internet. Most sites now have an “interactive quality to them nowadays. Readers can often sign in and create profiles. They then are often allowed to post comments on the stories or articles on the website or blog. In many cases, the website or blog owner responds to these comments; thus making this section of the website or blog a conversation.

Backlinking strategies can be easy and fun and the website owner who is working on getting more backlinks for his website can learn new things, meet new people, and have a tremendous amount of fun doing something that was once a chore: building backlinks.

Is Self Help Garbage?

Have You Heard It All Before?

Self help has been packaged and repackaged as self improvement, personal development, life improvement and many more incarnations.

The fact is self help is really about using the help of others to improve and help yourself, but does it work or is it just a "sounds good" crock?

The problem is that many so called "guru's" in the self help community peddle nothing but easy answers and positive thinking hocus pocus, without being honest or in some cases being downright unscrupulous.

These representatives of self help ultimately let everyone down, because in the end hard work beats all others inputs, but that's very rarely what people want to hear and you have to give people what they want to hear...don't you?

Truth, Improvement And A Dose Of Reality

The truth is that everyone can change to some degree, I doubt anyone would argue with that, but there is a veritable myriad of misinformation out there, with thousands of people who know nothing about serious personal development, who write their blogs with information that is little more than guessing what "works" - Even worse they very rarely ever practice what they preach.

There are certain truths about the improvement of ones' self that are set in stone. Effort is the cornerstone of change and if you believe that you can achieve anything of value and consequence without the application of some degree of serious input then you will not only fail but you will learn the biggest reality about accomplishment in the process.

Reality is that winners put in the hard yards - Losers look for easy answers. That's it.

You simply can't escape this truth, but once you come to terms with it...things can become exciting.

The Secret Did Many People An Injustice

The secret or the "law of attraction" confused many people. Everyone now knows someone who implicitly believes that if you focus and want something hard enough - You will get it as the universe heeds your deepest desires.

Unfortunately, these people we know that live by the secret are some of the poorest, unhealthiest underachievers around, so why is that so? - Effort is scary

The secret made millions of people think that if you close your eyes and wish - You get it. It just doesn't work like that. There is nothing inherently wrong with concentrating on the things you want, but not taking the physical step to make success a reality is just...well, it's a little naive to say the least.

I'm not saying that the law of attraction doesn't have a place in this world, because focusing on what you want is an essential spark in the machination of success, but to think that no effort will be required is to miss the point completely.

Positivity Is Essential, But Negative Hard Workers Still Win

Smile - It's contagious. Being happy and positive is wonderful and self help gurus everywhere inform you it is essential (which it is to a degree), but the fact remains that there are many negative people who succeed despite the fact that they are not a beacon of positivity, but because they work hard and understand the value of effort.

The lesson to be learned here is that if you really want to improve yourself, you must have the complete understanding that effort is the ultimate prerequisite for success.

Effort + Good Advice + Positive Mindset = 2 Thumbs Up

So, you know that nothing comes easy and you're o.k with that, but the problem you have is - Where can I find the right tools and information to assist my personal efforts?

There are many decent resources that can give you advice on various changes you wish to make. Many people want to increase their self confidence and feel better about themselves, this is one of the main things that self help deals with, but there is one website that focuses on the 4 fundamental areas of improvement, including Intelligence, Wealth, Happiness and Health.

Many people forget the IQ part, but this is an excellent way to boost your confidence and overall happiness as you learn to remember things with greater ease and take on new information with hunger and excitement.

The Solution Website offers honest advice and while it may at time not always be what you want to hear, it is offered in integrity which is trustworthy and reliable.

In Conclusion - Is Self Help Garbage?

No, not all of it and whilst the idea of helping yourself by using the knowledge of others may seem contradictory, the fact remains that the work to improve yourself must be done by you.

There is some really great advice out there and the truth is many people just don't have the tools to improve their situation, so good, solid information is a welcome addition to their personal development efforts.

Learn to spot the garbage from the good stuff and you'll set yourself in good stead to change your life in an honest and meaningful way, without hype or easy answers.

How Do I Get My Site to The Top of Search Engines?

Your website's ranking on search engines is a vital element of your overall marketing campaign, and there are ways to improve your link popularity through legitimate methods. Since search engines are the first stop for people on the Internet looking for goods or services, the position your website appears in search results is an important factor.

Before you go out and hire a search engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps listed bellow, and see if you can't boost your rankings yourself.

- Create a site with valuable content, products or services. And, make sure your site is fully operational before you have it submitted - Do NOT submite a site that is under construction or having just one page.

- Don't use the automatic submission services. Beware of companies that promise automatic submission of your website to hundreds of search engines which are but only false promises. The best way to submit your website for search engine ranking and inclusion is to do it yourself or to hire an expert to do it manually, by contacting the search engine companies and directories (i.e. http://www.WebDirectoryBank.com).

- Submit the domain or URL that have content in the corect format (http://www.mydomain.com - some directories accept it without http://)

- Take the time and choose the most appropriate category. Don't make the mistake of selecting the category too fast without checking if there would be a more relevant category.

- Check for broken links and correct HTML and avoid hidden text or hidden links.

- Pay attention to your keywords. Research and use the right keywords/phrases to attract your target customers. Keywords are the foundation bricks of the entire search engine system, and they demand individual scrutiny in your monitoring efforts.

- Use keywords in page titles itself. The actual text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page. In addition, all major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

- Ensure that each page on your website has appropriate titles and keywords so that your customer can find their way back to your site if they lose the book mark.

- Select words or phrases that target a niche segment. Use the advanced tools available to create a list of relevant keywords which do not attract too much competition in your niche segment.

- Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. The Search Engines crawler doesn't recognize text contained in images.

- Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substanially duplicate content. Google's algorithm really does take notice of duplicate content. Provide unique, relevant and fresh content to your users with a good grammar, correct spelling, and sentence structure.

- Use reports and logs from your web hosting company to see where your traffic is coming from. Analyze your visitor location and their incoming sources whether search engines or links from other sites and the keywords they used to find you.

- Write 10 highly informative and unique articles about the topic of your website. Demonstrate your industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles for your website or for article banks so you are perceived as an expert in your field. When not sure, hire professionals. Though it may seem costly, but it is a lot less expensive than spending your money on a website which no one visits.

- REGULARLY UPDATE YOUR WEB PAGES. Search engine spiders love constantly updated content. Any changed to your source code would register in the search engines' systems, and their spiders would crawl through your website with priority the next time a relevant query is made.

These on page search engine optimization techniques are designed to give you a good page rank for your online business' website and are crucial to the success of your marketing campaign. Once you achieve a high search engine position, it is essential that you make sure you maintain the high ranking you have worked so hard to achieve.
